HARRISONBURG, Va. - Junior Holly Goode blasted 18 kills to pace the George Mason women's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory at its Colonial Athletic Association rival James Madison on Saturday evening. Set scores were 29-27, 16-25, 25-13, 25-15.

Mason (14-6, 3-2 CAA) held a .314-to-.128 hitting advantage over the Dukes (6-14, 0-5), as Goode was joined in double-figure kills by sophomore Kelsey Bohman who added 10. Goode added a match-high seven blocks.

Danielle Erb led the Dukes with 16 kills while Megan Wiechmann had a match-best 44 kills.

JMU jumped out to an early lead before the Patriots ultimately tied it at 15 in the first set. The back-and-forth battle continued into extra points, as JMU had three set points but was unable to convert. Mason's first opportunity came at 27-26, but ultimately on its second chance, Mason captured the first set.

The Dukes controlled the second set, opening with an 11-3 lead and opening a lead as large as nine as they out-hit Mason .314-to-.107. Mason answered with a dominant third set, using a 12-2 run to begin the set and never led by fewer than nine points.

The fourth set saw the match's tone shift back to a see-saw battle, with neither team leading by more than three before, leading by a narrow 16-15 margin, Mason rattled off nine in a row to notch the victory.

Mason's road trip heads north next weekend as the Patriots travel to Hofstra and Northeastern on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
