(Fairfax, Va- January 6, 2009) --- The George Mason men's basketball game at Virginia Commonwealth University on Saturday, Jan. 24 will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 and will tip off at 4 p.m. The game had originally been slated as a "wildcard", but the network handed down its decision Monday.
The Patriots are scheduled to appear two other times on multi-platform ESPN package, CAA contests at home against Hofstra on February 3 and at Delaware February 12. The Hofstra game was originally scheduled for 9:00 p.m., but has been moved to a 7:00 p.m. tip. Mason has the potential to appear on the ESPN platform one more time during the regular season, as part of ESPN Bracketbuster weekend on February 21.
The last meeting between George Mason and VCU was aired on ESPN2 at the Patriot Center on Jan. 29, 2008. The Patriots were trailing 39-33 in that game, but finished the game on a 30-12 run to win 63-51, the only match-up between the teams last season.
