The George Mason women's basketball team will look to halt a nine-game losing streak when they travel to Northeastern on Sunday. The Super Bowl Sunday matchup at Solomon Court is set to tip at 2 p.m.
Northeastern owns a 7-12 record, and a 4-4 mark in CAA play following a 65-58 home loss to Delaware on Thursday night. The Huskies are led on offense by Jasmine Crew, who is averaging 13.8 points per game.
Mason holds a record of 3-9 when playing on the same day as the Super Bowl. The Patriots' last Super Sunday win came two seasons ago, a 58-55 triumph over William & Mary which coincided with a Pittsburgh Steelers win in Super Bowl XL.
Last time they met, Mason led Northeastern by as many as eight, but a second-half charge by the Huskies powered them to a 59-43 Colonial Athletic Association victory on Jan. 18 at Patriot Center. Mason (2-14, 0-5) was led by 10 points from sophomore Brittany Poindexter, while three NU players scored in double figures. Northeastern (6-10, 3-2) was powered on offense by 16 points from Ashlee Feldman.
The two teams' all-time series is tied at four games apiece, but the Huskies own victories in each of the last four matchups.
