George Mason senior forward John Vaughan suffered a concussion on Wednesday night in the Patriots' game at Northeastern and after fainting during the contest, he was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to be examined. A CT scan was clear and Vaughan was released, returning to the team's hotel. He is expected to return to Fairfax, Va. on Thursday where he will be reevaluated by the team physician.

Vaughan, who had 19 points to lead Mason on Wednesday night, took a blow to the head with 2:16 to play as the teams fought for a rebound. On the play, Northeastern's Nkem Ojougboh was fouled. Vaughan was on the floor briefly before being helped to his feet by his teammates. At the other end, Ojougboh made his first free throw before Vaughan collapsed in the lane. After more than 15 minutes, Vaughan was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. Mason ultimately lost the game 58-57, its first CAA loss of the year.
