FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to the Virginia Commonwealth Rams on Sunday afternoon at George Mason Stadium. With the loss, the Patriots drop to 4-6-0 and 1-1-0 in the CAA, while VCU improves to 5-4-1 and 1-0-1 in the CAA with the win.

VCU got on the board in the 20th minute when senior midfielder Megan Flanagan scored her fifth goal of the season off an assist from senior midfielder Stephanie Power. Flanagan's goal remained the lone tally of the match for the next 68 minutes as both defensive units controlled the action.

In the 88th minute, the Rams tacked onto their lead when freshman midfielder Azania took a shot from the right side that made its way past Mason goalkeeper Kelly Keelan. Sophomore midfielder Sarah McAuly assisted on Azania's goal.

Keelan made seven saves for the Patriots, playing all 90 minutes in the net. The Rams' Kali Van Covern made four stops in the match.

George Mason hits the road for its next contest, traveling to Hempstead, N.Y. to take on Hofstra in a 7 p.m. Colonial Athletic Association contest on Friday, Oct. 3.
