A pair of former George Mason players who have been linked together for the past four years will find themselves playing on different teams in different leagues next year as Will Thomas has signed with a Belgian team while Folarin Campbell has inked to play for an Italian squad in the 2008-09 season.
Thomas, one of the top scorers and rebounders in Mason history, will play this year for Belgacom Liege, a Division 1 Team in the Ethias League. Thomas is one of 11 American players currently on the Liege roster but he is the youngest one, as all the other players have prior professional basketball experience. He is one of seven players on the Liege roster in their first year with the team. Last season, Thomas was the Runner-Up for the CAA Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Liege was 20-15 last year in the regular season.
Campbell, one of the top 3-point shooters and passers in Mason history, will play this season for Solsonica Rieti, a SerieA Team in the Italian League. Campbell is one of five American players on the roster and he is the second-youngest player on the team. Like Thomas, he is the only player on his team without professional experience. Campbell is one of 10 first-year players on the squad. Last season, Campbell was named second-team All-CAA. Rieti was 14-20 last year in the regular season.
The Rieti and Liege seasons begin this October.
