FAIRFAX, Va. -
George Mason women's lacrosse head coach Lauren Rywak announced today the hiring of Kelly Kasper as an assistant coach. Kasper was a four-year starter at midfield for the University of Maryland, capping off her career in 2008 as a finalist for both the Tewaaraton and Honda Awards.
A team captain during her senior season, Kasper was a three-time All-American as well as a three-time All-ACC selection for the Terrapins. In addition to her regular-season success, Kasper was a standout performer in the postseason, earning ACC All-Tournament honors in 2005 and 2008. She gained international playing experience as a member of the US Women's Lacrosse Developmental Team in 2005-06.
"I am thrilled to add Kelly Kasper to the Mason lacrosse program," Rywak said. "Kelly's knowledge of the game will make an immediate impact on the student-athletes. Her accolades as a player at the University of Maryland are extremely impressive, as well as her experience on the US lacrosse team."
In addition to her playing experience, Kasper gained invaluable coaching experience as an intern under Maryland head coach Cathy Reese. Under Reese's tutelage, Kasper worked with the Maryland coaching staff to implement team goals and strategies.
