TUCSON, Ariz. - Two-time EIVA Coach of the Year Fred Chao will share his knowledge with a roster of 47 of the top youth volleyball players in the country for the next 10 days while he serves as an assistant coach for the Boys USA Youth A2 Program in Tucson, Ariz. The team, which is comprised of boys born in 1991 and 1992, will train for five days before breaking into four groups and competing in the 2008 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships.

The USA High Performance Championships will be held from July 23-26. Matches will take place on 15 courts in the Tucson Convention Center exhibition halls and arena in downtown Tucson. In addition to a field of regional All-Star teams, the Youth A2 players will compete against international competition as well.

Tino Reyes, an associate coach at the University of Hawaii, will serve as the head coach of the Youth A2 team. Joining Chao as assistants are Kevin Ring (UC San Diego), Matt Martin (Loyola University Chicago), Jeremy Price (Juniata College), Chad McDole (Graceland University), Gary Moore (Rutgers-Newark) and Kevin Moore (Pace Bootlegger VC).

Chao has previous experience with USA Volleyball. In 2002, he coached some of the top boys players in the nation at the USA Volleyball Development Camp. Chao was also an apprentice coach in 2004 with the USA Volleyball Junior National Team and an assistant coach at the USA Volleyball High Performance Camp. In 2005, he served as an assistant coach on the Junior National Team that traveled to India for the World Championships. He is also the camp director of the USA Boys Development Camp and in the summer of 2006 was the head coach of the USA Boys Youth National Team.

The Boys Youth A2 team is one step below the USA Boys Youth National Team, which is comprised of 12 athletes that will compete at the NORCECA Continental Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. this year.
