George Mason men's basketball seniors Will Thomas and Folarin Campbell concluded their stellar careers a little more than three weeks ago but the accolades continue to come in for the pair who finished their careers 1-2 in games played at Mason. On Monday, Thomas was named first-team All-State and Campbell was named third-team All-State by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).
Thomas was one of two players from the Colonial Athletic Association named first team, the other being VCU's Eric Maynor. Thomas was Runner-Up for the CAA Player of the Year award while Maynor brought home that honor. The other first-team selections were A.D. Vassallo of Virginia Tech, Reggie Williams of VMI and Sean Singletary of Virginia who was the lone unanimous selection. Singletary was selected the Virginia Player of the Year.
The All-State second team contained another CAA player in Jamal Shuler of VCU. He was joined on the squad by Alex McLean of Liberty, Tony Murphy of Norfolk State, Deron Washington of Virginia Tech and Kirk Williams of Longwood.
Campbell was on the third team along with fellow CAA player Brandon Johnson of Old Dominion. Jeff Allen of Virginia Tech, TeeJay Bannister of Liberty and Rashad West of Hampton.
Seth Greenberg of Virginia Tech was named the Coach of the Year and Kevin Anderson of Richmond was selected Rookie of the Year.
