Fairfax, Va.- (November 13, 2008) --- George Mason men's basketball games will be broadcast on television at least 20 times for the third straight season with 20 games scheduled during the 2008-09 campaign. The Patriots composite television schedule includes games on the multi-platform ESPN package, the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), selected games as part of the Colonial Athletic Association's (CAA) Comcast/CN8 package and Verizon FiOS.
The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network will broadcast Mason games for the third straight season. The Patriots game against 2008 NCAA participant Mount St. Mary's at Patriot Center on November 25th will be the first of eight games MASN will cover. Fans will be able to watch four of the Patriots away contests as the regional sports network package includes games at Liberty, at Dayton and at CAA opponents Northeastern and UNC Wilmington. MASN will also air the non-conference home game against Radford.
The Green and Gold have seven CAA games slated for broadcast on Comcast SportsNet or CN8 with a potential eighth game at VCU. CN8 will air the CAA opener for the Patriots against Drexel on December 6. Both home and away contests with James Madison and Old Dominion will be scheduled on Comcast SportsNet or CN8 as well as the home contests against Delaware and Northeastern.
The Patriots are scheduled to appear on ESPNU twice, CAA contests at home against Hofstra on February 3 and at Delaware February 12. Mason has the potential to appear on the ESPN platform two more times during the regular season, at their only game against VCU on ESPN2 and as part of ESPN Bracketbuster weekend on February 21.
The season following the 2006 Final Four, Mason had 21 regular season games on television and were on three times in the CAA Championship for a combined 24 total games on television. Last season, Mason had a record 27 regular season games televised and was on four times in the postseason for a total of 31 appearances.
