Box Score

Fairfax, Va. - The George Mason women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day on Sunday afternoon but the Patriots were unable to give a fond sendoff to their two seniors as Old Dominion took a 2-0 win at George Mason Stadium.

The game was evenly played with both teams playing strong defense and launching effective counters. The Patriots had several scoring chances in each half but couldn't convert as Old Dominion earned its 11th shutout of the year. Perhaps Mason's best chance came on a corner kick in the 80th minute as senior Jessica Paris served the box and Kimmy Moss had a shot from 5 yards out. Several Old Dominion defenders were able to get their body on the ball to keep it out of the net.

The Monarchs were able to take the advantage in the game in the 36th minute when Katie Watson scored on a rebound of a Caroline Brown shot. The insurance goal came in the 77th minute when Jocelyn Weidner scored off a pass from Ashley Kukura as Mason goal keeper Kelly Keelan got a hand on the ball but couldn't keep it out of the net.

The match was the final home game for Paris and Nilani Duarte. Paris will finish her career among the top 10 in school history in games started.

The Patriots will return to action on Thursday in their season finale as Mason plays at Towson at 3 p.m.
