FAIRFAX, Va. - Springfield College arrived late to the Fieldhouse on Monday evening, pushing back the start of the scheduled men's volleyball match by 30 minutes. While the team finally arrived in Fairfax, they left their game back in Springfield, Mass. as the twelfth-ranked Patriots easily dispatched of the Pride in three games (30-22, 30-22, 30-24).

Both teams struggled at the onset of the match, with both sides finishing the first game with a negative hitting percentage. Despite the lack of offensive firepower, the Patriots were strong at the net, turning back the Pride's attack time after time to earn a 30-22 first-game win. Senior middle blocker R.J. Goubeaux led the way with five blocks in the first game, and eight in the match.

After the first game, Mason found its rhythm on offense, hitting .400 in a 30-22 second-game win and .370 in a 30-24 third-game victory. Junior opposite hitter Kyle Gramit led the team with 12 kills and 10 digs, while Goubeaux hit .562 with 10 kills and three aces in the match.

Springfield College struggled all night long on offense, finishing with a .124 hitting percentage as a team. Sophomore AJ Nally was the only player to reach double figures in kills for the Pride, tallying 11, along with three aces.

George Mason hits the road for the first time during the 2008 season for its next match, playing at No. 9 IPFW on Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. in Fort Wayne, Ind.
