Fairfax, Va (September 26, 2007)--The George Mason men's basketball team will open the 2007-08 campaign with three straight home contests and a record seven games in the month of November, breaking the previous record of six games in November 1998. The season opener will be at the Patriot Center on Friday, November 9, followed by Cleveland State (Nov. 13) and Dayton (Nov. 17).

As previously released, Mason will participate in the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Fla. and will face Kansas State at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving in a nationally televised game on ESPN2. Mason will play two more games in the tournament as the Patriots will face either Villanova or Central Florida on Friday. All the games will be played at Disney's Milk House at Disney's Wide World of Sports and will air on either ESPN2 or ESPNU. Saturday will be an off day with the tournament wrapping up on Sunday. The other teams in the tournament include NC State, Penn State, Rider and South Carolina.

For the fourth consecutive season Mason will participate in the BB&T Classic on Sunday, December 2 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The Patriots will take on East Carolina with tip scheduled for 5 p.m. Prior to Mason's game George Washington will play Auburn with tip scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Following Mason's contest Maryland will battle VCU at 7:30 p.m. All three games in this year's BB&T Classic will be televised on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) which is the official cable network of the BB&T Classic.

The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) received an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament the past two seasons. The Patriots came close to securing the automatic bid into the tournament by defeating JMU, Hofstra and ODU, but came up short in the Championship game against VCU. Conference play is once again expected to be competitive. The Patriots open their CAA schedule against Drexel on November 29th at the Patriot Center.

The Patriots will play home-and-home CAA games with Drexel, Towson, Delaware, Northeastern, James Madison, Old Dominion and UNC Wilmington. The Green and Gold have two additional home match-ups, one with defending CAA champion VCU and William and Mary. Homecoming is scheduled for February 16 against UNC Wilmington. The team will travel to Georgia State and Hofstra. The CAA Tournament will once again be held at the Richmond Coliseum from March 7-10.

The remaining games on the non-conference schedule include home games against Hampton (Dec. 5) and Liberty (Dec. 30). The Patriots will play on the road at Kent State (Dec. 8), at Florida International (Dec. 21) and the ESPN BracketBuster on February 23. The opponent for that game will be announced in early February.
