Box Score

FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason women's soccer team (4-3-0) lost its second consecutive match, falling to the American Eagles (6-2-0) by a final score of 3-1 on Tuesday evening at George Mason Stadium.

Defense dominated the first half of play as the two teams combined for a mere four shots. Both teams took two attempts in the half with neither team finding the back of the net in the first 45 minutes of action.

In the 52nd minute of play, American's Krystn Hodge broke through with the game's first goal. Teammate Kelsey Brasher took a shot that was saved by Mason goalkeeper Kasey Davenport; however, the shot ricocheted off Davenport and rolled right to Hodge, who kicked it into the middle of the net to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Hodge added her second goal of the contest in the 65th minute to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

George Mason cut the deficit to a single goal less than a minute later when sophomore Annie Lebherz took a shot that ricocheted off the left post and into the net at the 66:10 mark of the match. However, Lebherz goal would be the only one the Patriots would score on the night. American's Erin Koch tacked on a goal in the 68th minute for the final tally.

George Mason took one more shot than American in the match, finishing with 11 to the Eagles 10. American took five corner kicks to the Patriots' two.

Mason returns to action on Friday, Sept. 28 when it opens up its CAA schedule with a 7 p.m. match against Northeastern at George Mason Stadium.
