FAIRFAX, Va. - Five participants from the last year's NCAA Championship Tournament await the George Mason women's basketball team in 2007-08, as the Patriots released their upcoming season schedule today. Mason will face non-conference foes Georgia and UMBC, along with CAA rivals James Madison, Old Dominion and Delaware in a demanding schedule which opens with a two-week road trip.

Following an exhibition against Wilmington College (Del.) at the Patriot Center on November 5, the Patriots will be confronted with a tough test right away at Georgia on November 11. The Bulldogs, a Sweet 16 team a year ago, won last year's matchup in Fairfax, 76-51. One weekend later, Mason will travel to New Jersey for the Seton Hall Tournament. After facing the host Pirates on Friday at 6 p.m., the Patriots will square off against either San Diego or Toledo the next day.

Mason's home opener, the first of 14 games at the Patriot Center in the 2007-08 season, will be on Wednesday, November 21 when the Patriots host defending America East champion UMBC at 2 p.m. Two days later, the Longwood Lancers come to town for a 7 p.m. tip at the Patriot Center. A pair of non-conference road contests await the Patriots after the holiday weekend, as they travel to Richmond (Dec. 1) and Bucknell (Dec. 4).

After a two week break for exams, the Patriots return to Fairfax for a four-game homestand, their longest of the season. Mason hosts American at 7 p.m. on December 19, followed by Fordham on December 22 at 1 p.m. On December 30, the Patriots host Winthrop in their final tune-up before conference play begins.

The new calendar year brings about the start of CAA competition for George Mason, as the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens visit the Patriot Center on Sunday, January 6. Following a trip to Hofstra (Jan. 10), Mason hosts Drexel at 2 p.m. on January 13. The Patriots' final non-conference action of the season comes on January 15, when they travel to Lynchburg to face in-state foe Liberty at 7 p.m.

A balanced schedule remains for the Patriots, as they spent no more than two games away from home for the remainder of the season, with home contests against James Madison (Jan. 17), William & Mary (Jan. 24), VCU (Feb. 3), Old Dominion (Feb. 7), UNC Wilmington (Feb. 17), Towson (Feb. 24) and the regular-season finale against Northeastern on March 6.

On the road, Mason will face Towson (Jan. 20), UNC Wilmington (Jan. 27), James Madison (Jan. 31), Delaware (Feb. 10), Georgia State (Feb. 14), Northeastern (Feb. 21), Old Dominion (Feb. 28) and Drexel (March 2).

The challenging regular season leads up to the 2007-08 CAA Women's Basketball Championship, hosted by Delaware for the second straight year. The tournament will take place from March 13-16 at the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark.

Season tickets are available for as low as $30, while individual tickets go on sale November 1. For more information, visit GoMason.com or contact the Mason athletic ticket office at (703) 993-3270
