The Mason women's volleyball team will host Villanova on Wednesday in the Patriots' lone midweek match of the 2007 season. First serve from John Linn Memorial Gym is set for 7 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at Linn Gym the day of the match at a rate of $5 for adults and $2 for youth and senior citizens.
Mason enters tonight's match with a 2-1 record, after finishing second in the D.C. Volleyball Challenge last weekend. After outlasting GW in the season opener at Linn Gym, the Patriots dropped a 3-0 decision to American on Saturday, before bouncing back with a 3-0 victory against Georgetown. Mason has outscored its opponents by a 265-252 margin, and in the Georgetown match, Mason won each game by an average of over 10 points.
Jaqueline Kohler and Fernanda Bartels were named to the All-Tournament Team. Kohler, a senior who was a Preseason All-CAA Team selection, averaged a double-double for the weekend, with 37 kills and 36 digs in the three matches
Bartels, a freshman, excelled at setter with 104 assists, and notched a team-leading nine service aces. Fellow newcomer Holly Goode recorded 13 kills and seven blocks, and currently leads the CAA with an attack percentage of .500. Junior Jourdan Dozier set a new career high Friday night with six total blocks against GW, then tied it a day later against the Hoyas.
Following Wednesday's match, Mason will host the annual Patriot Invitational on Saturday, featuring the Howard Bison and the Lehigh Mountain Hawks along with the hosts. The tournament will be the final home match at Linn Gym this season, as the Patriots will move across campus to the Rec Sports Complex/Field House while Linn is undergoing renovations.
