Fairfax, Va...George Mason University's head men's soccer coach Greg Andrulis has announced that four more student-athletes have committed to play for Mason, beginning with the 2007 season.
The athletes are Steven Wagoner (D/MF, 6-1, 185, Fairfax, Va./South County Secondary School), Patrick Barthold (D, 5-10,160, Centreville, Va./Westfield/Cincinnatti), Parker Walton (F, 6-3, 175, Powhatan, Va./Midlothian) and Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe (F, 5-8, 155, Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt/St. Francis University (Pa.)).
"Mason's 2007 recruiting class to date, addresses many of our needs for the upcoming season," said Andrulis. "We have added depth in our defense with the addition of Pat Barthold, as well as Steven Wagoner and will also welcome a couple of quality attacking players in JJ Kwame and Parker Walton. In addition to Fro Adu, this class is very solid both on the field and in the classroom."
Steven Wagoner (D/MF, 6-1, 185, Fairfax, Va./South County Secondary School)
Wagoner attended Hayfield Secondary for two years and then transferred to South County Secondary School, where he will graduate in June 2007. Wagoner earned three total varsity letters in soccer and also was a two-year varsity letterwinner in ice hockey at Hayfield. He served as the Stallions team captain senior season, captain for his Super 20 Team (2006) and captain for the South County Secondary Stallions soccer team (2006). During his junior year, Wagoner was selected to play on the Northern VA Royals PDL team.
Patrick Barthold (D, 5-10,160, Centreville, Va./Westfield/Cincinnatti)
Barthold graduated from Westfield High School in 2006 where he earned four varsity letters in soccer. Barthold has been attending Mason since the beginning of 2007, after transferring from the University of Cincinnatti. During his senior season with the Bulldogs, Barthold was named team MVP and was named the Concorde Player of the Year. In addition, Barthold garnered numerous honors in 2006 as he was named to the All-Virginia First Team, the Northern Region First Team, the First Team All-Concorde and was All-Met First Team. During his junior season, Barthold was named to the all-region second team and he also earned second team all-district honors as a freshman. During his career at Westfield, Barthold scored 50 goals and dished out 32 assists for the Bulldogs.
Parker Walton (F, 6-3, 175, Powhatan, Va./Midlothian)
Walton will graduate from Midlothian High School in June where he is a three-year varsity letterwinner. During his junior season, Walton garnered numerous honors: All-Virginia First Team, Central Region First Team, Dominion District First Team, All-Met First Team and all-academic honors In 2005, Walton earned second team all-district honors. Walton played Super Y with the Richmond Kickers in 2006 and was chosen to travel to Spain with a select FC Richmond squad in the same year.
Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe (F, 5-8, 155, Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt/St. Francis University (Pa.))
Adjeman-Pamboe is a 2005 graduate of Eleanor Roosevelt High School where he played three years soccer and earned two varsity letterwinners. Prior to his start at Mason this past January, Adjeman-Pamboe attended St. Francis University in Pennsylvania for a year and a half. During his senior season with the Raiders, Adjeman-Pamboe earned All-Prince George's County First Team Honors. Adjeman-Pamboe played two years with the club team Bethesda Raptors and then was with Columbia United for two seasons. At St. Francis, Adjeman-Pamboe scored eight total goals, six of which occurred in his freshman season.
