Feb. 19, 2007

The George Mason men's basketball team will play its final home game of the 2006-07 regular season on Tuesday night as the Patriots host Georgia State at 7 p.m. The game had originally been scheduled for Wednesday but was moved so it could be televised. The game will be broadcast on Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN). The Patriots will be celebrating Senior Night and looking to clinch a winning record at home for the ninth straight season.

Mason is coming off a 68-62 loss to Kent State in the ESPN BracketBusters. It was Mason's third straight loss at home. Georgia State enjoyed a 63-53 win over Elon in its BracketBuster contest. The Panthers are 9-17 overall and 5-11 in the CAA, putting them in ninth place. The Patriots are 14-13, 8-8 in the CAA and tied for fifth.

Senior Lance Perique has paced Georgia State this year, averaging 15.8 points and 5.3 rebounds. He is seventh in the CAA in scoring. Sophomore Leonard Mendez is 16th in the CAA with 12.7 points while sophomore Rashad Chase is at 9.1 points and a team-high 6.7 rebounds, eighth-best in the conference. Junior Ron Larris leads the team with 2.5 assists per game while junior Deven Dickerson is averaging 1.6 blocks per contest, fifth in the CAA.

Mason got inconsistent performances this past week out of everyone but junior forward Will Thomas. At Delaware, Thomas had 14 points and nine rebounds. Against Kent Sate, he had 12 points and 10 rebounds. No one else scored in double figures in either game. Junior Folarin Campbell who leads the team in scoring left Saturday's contest with a strained hamstring and he is currently day-to-day. Campbell has played in 89 straight games with 56 straight starts.

Mason will honor Tim Burns, Makan Konate, Charles Makings and Gabe Norwood on Tuesday before the tip. The four players are in their final season with the team. Makings is out for the year with a torn ACL but the other three are expected to take the court.
