Mason Season Statistics
FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason women's basketball team returns to action after a 15-day layoff with a home tilt against local foe American. The Eagles and Patriots renewed their rivalry last season with a 60-53 Mason victory after not facing each other for four seasons, following American's departure from the CAA. Tip-off at the Patriot Center is set for 7 p.m.
Admission to the game is $5 for adults and $2 for youth and senior citizens. The game will be broadcast live on Mason All-Access, where fans can catch live video and audio of the contest. On campus, the game can be heard live on http://www.wgmuradio.com.
Scouting the Eagles
American enters the game with a 6-4 record, coming off a 65-51 victory over Fordham on Dec. 9. AU has won four of its last five games. The Eagles are led by senior guard Liz Hayes, who is averaging 14.6 points per game while dishing out 43 assists on the year. Senior forward Maggie Smith-Davidson is American's top rebounder, averaging seven boards per contest.
Last Time Out...
Senior Lateisha Wade drained a three-pointer with one second showing on the clock, but the George Mason women's basketball team fell just short at Bucknell on Tuesday evening, battling the Bison all the way in a 67-64 double-overtime defeat at Sojka Pavilion. It was Mason's first double-overtime game in nearly ten years, dating back to the 70-69 loss at California on December 19, 1997.
Home for the Holidays
After playing five of their first seven games on the road, Mason will have an opportunity to get comfortable at the Patriot Center over the next few weeks, as it will play four straight games at home. The stretch is Mason's longest homestand of the season, and matches last year's season-long of four games.
