TOWSON, Md. - Senior Jaqueline Kohler registered her 12th double-double of the season with a team-high 18 kills and 10 digs, but the George Mason women's volleyball team was unable to hold off Towson as the Tigers earned a 3-2 victory on Friday evening in Colonial Athletic Association action. Game scores were 30-28, 27-30, 30-28, 30-23, 15-10.
Mason (14-9, 7-4 CAA), winners of four straight coming into the weekend, saw their win streak halted by the Tigers (7-20, 3-8), who were led by Maddie Haseltine's school record-tying 29 kills in the match. For the Patriots, Kohler was joined in double-figure kills by sophomores Sam Simmonds and Rebecca Walter, as the Australia natives chipped in 13 and 12, respectively. Simmonds's kill total set a new career high.

The match was a close affair throughout, with the Patriots holding a narrow .176-to-.171 attack advantage. After the Tigers broke open the first game to take a 25-19 lead, their largest on the evening, Mason responded with a furious 7-1 run to knot the contest at 26. After trading points, Towson took the next two to move to game point, and ended up holding off the Patriots to take the early 1-0 advantage.
Mason evened the ledger with a game two win, but Towson answered right back with a win in the third game despite a Patriot lead of as many as six in game three. The Patriots answered with a decisive victory to force a fifth game, in which Towson took the lead at 7-6 and never looked back en route to the victory.
The Patriots will look to return to their winning ways tomorrow night when they travel to face Delaware, who currently sits atop the conference standings. First serve from Newark is set for 7 p.m.
