George Mason (5-6-2, 2-3-1 CAA) engaged in a defensive struggle with William and Mary (6-6-3, 3-2-1 CAA) in Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at George Mason Stadium. Neither team was able to find the back of the net as the match ended in a scoreless draw after 110 minutes of play.
Both teams had opportunities to score in the match, with the Patriots holding the advantage in shots, with 19 to the Tribe's 16. The Tribe nearly ended the scoreless drought with two minutes remaining in the second overtime period when midfielder Nathaniel Baako's shot from the right side reached the back of the net past a diving Sean Kelley. However, the shot was negated when William and Mary was called offsides on the play.
Kelley played all 110 minutes in goal for Mason, tallying eight saves and recording his fourth shutout of the season. William and Mary goalkeeper Andrew McAdams also played the entire match, recording five stops.
The Patriots are winless in their past three matches, with their last victory coming on the road against Delaware on Oct. 12. George Mason will attempt to get back in the win column in the team's final home match of the regular season against VCU on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. After playing the Rams, Mason will hit the road for its final four matches of the regular season.
