NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Brian Henderson hit three 3-pointers during a 25-9 second-half run, and two George Mason players combined to miss three free throws in the final second as Old Dominion beat the Patriots 65-63 Saturday.

Henderson started the rally with a 3 with 13:58 left to cut George Mason's lead to 40-35. Gerald Lee's layup gave the Monarchs (10-4, 3-0 Colonial Athletic Association) their first lead of the game, 49-47, and Henderson's third 3 gave them their biggest lead at 57-49 with 1:30 left.

The Patriots (6-7, 0-3) twice cut the margin to two, the last time on Darryl Monroe's layup with two seconds left. Monroe was injured on the play when he was fouled by Arnaud Dahi, and Tim Burns came off the bench to shoot the free throw.

The Patriots' Folarin Campbell rebounded Burns' miss and was fouled by Dahi, but he missed the two free throws that would have tied it.

George Mason led by as many as 14 points in the first half, shooting 65 percent to Old Dominion's 26 percent. The shooting fortunes were reversed in the second half, with the Monarchs hitting 54 percent to the Patriots' 39 percent.

Henderson led Old Dominion with 17 points, followed by Valdas Vasylius with 16. Brandon Johnson had 14 points and eight steals, tying the school record set by Oliver Purnell, now the head coach at Clemson, in 1975.

George Mason's Will Thomas scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting, and Dre Smith added 17 points. Campbell scored 14 points but committed 10 turnovers.
