Price Wins Second Straight EIVA Tait Division Player of the Week Award

FAIRFAX, Va. - For the second consecutive week, George Mason redshirt freshman opposite hitter William Price has been honored by the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) as its Tait Division Player of the Week. Price posted big numbers as the Patriots split two matches this past week.

Despite losing to St. Francis (Pa.) in Mason's EIVA Tait Division opener last Friday, Price had his second consecutive stellar outing, recording a match-high 30 kills on 52 swings. He also had eight digs and a match-high five aces, scoring a total of 35 points in the match.

In the Patriots' 3-0 win against Lees-McRae on Saturday, Price led Mason's attack again, finishing with a match-high 22 kills, in addition to a match-high four aces. Price also recorded two blocks and scored 27 points against the Bobcats.

Price is currently the national leader in kills per game (7.18), points per game (8.55) and aces per game (1.091). He also ranks among the nation's best in hitting percentage, with a mark of .439, the 18th-best in the country, with 79 kills and only 18 errors in 139 total attacks through three matches this season.

In Mason's first match of the season on Jan. 19 against Ball State, Price had a tremendous debut, leading the Patriots with 27 kills and three aces in the team's season-opening victory at John Linn Memorial Gym. Price, who spent the summer playing for the USA National Junior Men's Volleyball team, hit .358 in the match, with only eight errors on 53 attempts. He also had four digs and four blocks, and scored 32 points in Mason's 3-1 (24-30, 30-21, 30-19, 30-28) victory.

Price and the rest of the Patriots travel to East Stroudsburg, Pa. to play East Stroudsburg in an EIVA Tait Division match at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
