Women's Hoops to Face Old Dominion at Home in CAA Action

Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's women's basketball team (7-8, 1-4 CAA) will close out its four-game homestand with a 7 p.m. Colonial Athletic Association match-up against Old Dominion (8-7, 4-0) at the Patriot Center on Jan. 18.

Mason junior forward Moni Akintunde (Laurel, Md.) is second on the team in points average (10.9 ppg), but now leads the Patriots with 6.9 rebounds per game. Akintunde has pushed her career total double-doubles to 13 after collecting three in a row. Junior guard Lateisha Wade (Willingboro, N.J.) leads the team with 12.5 ppg, while junior guard Casey Quigley (Springfield, Va.) has dished out a team-high 35 assists thus far this season. After her 4-of-5 showing at the arc against Georgia State, Quigley now stands 13th in Mason's all-time record book with 60 career treys.

The Patriots head into this contest with Old Dominion having lost its past two league games with a 68-38 defeat to James Madison (Jan. 11) and a 70-57 loss to Georgia State on Jan. 14. Mason's lone conference win came at Northeastern when the Patriots claimed a 67-61 victory on Dec. 5.

The Monarchs are flawless in CAA action as ODU owns a 4-0 mark in league play and an 8-7 overall record. ODU heads into Thursday night's contest having won four-straight, including a 74-59 win over Hofstra in Norfolk on Jan. 14. The Monarchs last loss came against #5 Tennessee on Dec. 22 by a score of 75-59 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. T.J. Jordan leads ODU with 15.0 ppg, which is sixth-best among conference peers, while Tiffany Green has averaged a team-best 5.8 rebounds per contest.

ODU leads the overall series against Mason, 36-0, which includes a 66-50 win on March 9, 2006 in a quarterfinal match-up at the CAA Championship in Fairfax, Va.

Next up for Mason is its first road game since Jan. 7 as the Patriots face Towson in Maryland on Jan. 21 at 2 p.m.
