Will George Mason's men's basketball team add yet another trophy to the mantle from this magical season? It's highly probable! ESPN will announce it's nominations on Monday, June 26th for the 14th Annual ESPY Awards and the Patriots could find themselves up for two awards in the categories for "Best upset" and "Best coach". A one-hour 2006 ESPY Awards nomination show will air on ESPN Tuesday, June 27th at 7 p.m. showcasing the nominees.
The winners are announced at the ESPY Awards Show on Wednesday, July 12th at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. Fans across the country vote via the Internet from June 26th until the clock appropriately strikes midnight for the Cinderella Patriots on Saturday, July 8th.
The ESPY Awards were created in 1993 for Excellence is Sports. They are distinguished by its charitable contribution. A portion of the proceeds is donated to the V Foundation, established by ESPN with the late Jim Valvano.
