Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's men's soccer team collected a 4-0-2 record during the 2006 spring season and scored 11 total goals in the six contests.

The Patriots opened up the spring season with a 3-0 win at Richmond on March 25. Freshman Dan Ames scored all three goals for a hat trick. On April 9, Mason participated in the Shutout Cancer Tournament and ended in scoreless ties against both Navy and Towson.

Mason's second win came on April 19 against UMBC as the Patriots shut-out the Retrievers, 3-0. Junior Francis McCardle scored the first goal, which Ames was credited the assist, while sophomore Adam Lobene netted the final two, one of which Ames dished out the helper.

On April 22, Mason defeated St. Mary's on the road, 3-0, as freshman Lucas Pardew, Chaves and Ames each fired off a goal for the Patriots. One week later, Mason hosted Loyola and claimed a 2-0 win as Ames netted each of the two goals.

"We are pleased with the progress we made as a team throughout the spring season," said head coach Greg Andrulis. "Dan Ames was particularly sharp and appears fully recovered from injuries that held him back the past two seasons."
