Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's head women's basketball coach Debbie Taneyhill has announced that Rashauna Hobbs (G, 5-6, Bowie, Md./Riverdale Baptist) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the 2006-07 Patriot basketball squad.
"We are very excited to have Rashauna join Mason's basketball program," said Taneyhill. "She brings stability to the point guard position, as well as a great knowledge of the game. Rashauna has a great feel for the game having played for an outstanding high school and having been around the highest level of basketball her entire life. She can shoot the ball well and knows how to make her teammates better."
Hobbs played four years of basketball at Riverdale Baptist and earned team MVP honors both her sophomore and junior seasons. The Maryland native earned All-Anne Arundel County Gazette Second Team honors in 2004, was named to the first team the following year and, during her senior season, Hobbs was named to the NACA All-Tournament team. Hobbs also played soccer for three years at Riverdale Baptist and competed on the track and field team for one season.
