Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's head men's soccer coach Greg Andrulis has announced that Sean Kelley (GK; Lexington, Ky.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Mason, beginning Fall 2006.
"Sean Kelley is a tremendous addition to our program," said Andrulis. "His accomplishments in the classroom and on the field are exemplary. Sean possesses great character, tremendous goalkeeping ability and has been successful at every level."
Kelley played four years varsity soccer at Paul Laurence Dunbar high school, is a member of the Lexington F.C. 88 Premier since 1998 and competed with the Olympic Development Program (ODP) Kentucky squad from 2002-05. In his senior season, Kelley was a member of the NSCAA All-America team, earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors, was named Kentucky Mr. Soccer, tabbed as the District Tournament MVP and was named to both the First Team All-Kentucky, as well as First Team All-Lexington.
During Kelley's senior year, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School was crowned Kentucky State Champions, Hoosier Cup Champions and the team was ranked No. 1 in Kentucky. For this season, Kelley recorded 15 shutouts and allowed only 11 goals, while in 2004 he registered a Kentucky record of 18 shutouts, 12 consecutive, in his netminder role.
"Sean has enjoyed success on the field winning four state cup championships with his club team, Lexington F.C. and winning a championship with Dunbar High School," stated Andrulis. "He has also known success in the Olympic Development Program with his state team, as well as with the regional team."
Kelley was also recruited by Cincinnati, Louisville, Western Kentucky and Coastal Carolina.
