WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Folarin Campbell scored 18 points, including five in a decisive 9-1 first-half run, to lead George Mason to a 58-46 victory over Holy Cross on Thursday night.
Campbell then helped clinch the game for George Mason (5-4) after the Crusaders made a second half run.
Tim Clifford scored 12 to lead Holy Cross (6-5), which lost its fourth straight game. Holy Cross played without three injured players, including starting guard Pat Doherty.
With 7:40 left in the first half, the Patriots' Dre Smith and Torey Thomas of Holy Cross exchanged 3-point field goals to make it 13-12. The Patriots then forced two turnovers and two misses and Campbell scored five points, including a three-point field goal to make it 22-12. The Patriots led 29-22 at the half.
Down 32-22, Clifford scored seven straight points to key a 10-3 run. Clifford's 3-point field goal and a layup by Keith Simmons brought Holy Cross to within 43-41 with 7:35 left.
After an Alex Vander Baan miss, Smith scored and added a free throw and the Patriots put the game way with a 12-4 run as Campbell score seven points.
George Mason's Louis Birdsong had a game-high 11 rebounds.
