FAIRFAX, Va. - The first-place Hofstra Pride (18-6, 14-1 CAA) used a balanced attack featuring four players with double-digit kill totals to defeat George Mason (7-15, 4-12 CAA) in Colonial Athletic Association women's volleyball action on Friday night at John Linn Memorial Gym.

The Patriots played their most competitive game of the night in the first game, losing by only three points while hitting .303 as a team. Mason was within two late, at 28-26, before the Pride took a three-point lead on Elizabeth Curley's kill. Senior middle blocker Janelle Wilson countered with a kill of her own to bring the Patriots back within two, before Beverly Rivera closed out the game for Hofstra with a kill for the 30-27 win. Hofstra went on to take the second game 30-25 and the third game 30-22 to close out the match.

Freshman outside hitter Rebecca Walter led the Patriots with 13 kills on 38 swings. Freshman setter Katie Corcoran also played well for Mason, posting a double-double while leading the team in both assists and digs, with 31 and 11, respectively. Senior middle blocker Chantal Bodkin-Clarke, who leads the CAA in blocks per game, was outstanding at the net, with eight total blocks, including three solo.

Hofstra spread most of its kills amongst four players. Curley led all players with 16, Rivera chipped in 13, Lauren Engle had 11 and Harmonie Calinda recorded 10. Junior setter Shellane Ogoshi dished out a match-high 44 assists, while senior libero Catherine Durakis recorded a match-high 17 digs.

George Mason will close out its home schedule tomorrow with a match against Northeastern at 7 p.m. Tomorrow night will be Senior Night, with the team's two seniors - Bodkin-Clarke and Wilson - being honored prior to the start of the match.

Tickets can be purchased at John Linn Memorial Gym the day of the match at a rate of $5 for adults and $2 for youth and senior citizens. All full-time enrolled students at George Mason will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
