Box Score

Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's men's soccer team (10-2, 6-0 CAA) extended its win streak to nine after defeating Drexel (5-6, 1-4) by a score of 1-0 Sunday afternoon at George Mason Stadium. Mason has not won nine-straight contests since 1998 and this marks only the third time in school history that the Patriots have accomplished this feat. Mason, ranked 29th by College Soccer News, is the only school in the Colonial Athletic Association that owns a flawless record in conference competition.

In the 63rd minute, junior midfielder Adam Lobene (Rochester, N.Y.) had a breakaway about 30 yards out and beat three defenders, which allowed him to fire off a shot that was stopped by Drexel's keeper, Cory Robertson. Lobene got his own rebound at about five yards out and knocked it in the center of the net for his third goal of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Sean Kelley (Lexington, Ky.) was in net all 90 minutes and tallied 11 saves on the afternoon. Kelley now has eight shutouts thus far this season. Robertson collected five saves and allowed one goal in 90 minutes of play.

Shots were fairly even on the day as Mason had 17 to Drexel's 15 and the Patriots had a slight advantage on corner kicks, 3-2.

Mason will return to the field when the Patriots travel to Norfolk to face Old Dominion on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
