Box Score

Philadelphia, Pa. - The George Mason women's soccer team won their third straight match on Sunday afternoon, in the process evening their conference mark as the Patriots downed Drexel, 2-0 in Colonial Athletic Association action.

Despite missing four players to season-ending injuries, the Patriots have put together a three-match winning streak that now includes back-to-back shutouts. Jessica Paris, Mary Raveia, Annie Lebherz and Amanda Schmidt are all out for the year with knee injuries but the remaining Patriots have rallied to improve to 6-7-1 on the season, 3-3-0 in the CAA.

On Sunday, Mason got both of its goals in the second half. The first came off the foot of L.J. Williams who took a pass from Leslie Cabe and buried the ball in the right corner in the 58th minute. For Williams, it was her fifth goal of the season and for Cabe, her third assist. It was the second time this season Cabe has assisted on a Williams goal.

The insurance goal came in the 78th minute when Rachel Wiggins took the ball from Kelly Keelan and, like Williams, placed the ball in the right corner of the net. It was the first point of the year for Keelan while Wiggins scored her team-leading seventh goal.

Mason played stellar team defense for the second-straight game, once again led by junior Laura Salich. Goal keeper Kasey Davenport stopped both shots she faced to earn her second straight shutout and fourth shutout on the season. Mason was the more aggressive team as the Patriots committed 17 fouls and were whistled for four yellow cards. Sarah Fack, Salich, Nilani Duarte and Cabe each drew yellow cards. Mason also had four corner kicks. Drexel (4-8-1, 1-5-0) committed just eight fouls and earned just two corner kicks.

Mason will return to action on Friday when the Patriots host Old Dominion at 7 p.m. The Monarchs are 12-1-0 on the year, 4-1-0 in CAA play. Old Dominion will host VCU on Tuesday before heading to Fairfax for next weekend's showdown.
