Box Score

Newark, Del. - The George Mason women's soccer team went into hostile territory on Friday night and showed no fear as the Patriots won their second straight conference match, downing the Delaware Blue Hens 1-0 in Colonial Athletic Association action. Mason had opened the CAA slate with three consecutive losses but have since rebounded to win back-to-back matches.

Friday's match got underway later than scheduled after the Patriots struggled through the rain and traffic to get to Newark. Once there, the Patriot defense was up to the task, as Kasey Davenport earned her third shutout of the season, stopping two shots. The Patriots also had a team save on the evening.

The game was scoreless until midway through the second period. In the 72nd minute, Jessie Hart's shot off the crossbar was collected by Nilani Duarte and she scored the game-winning goal. For Duarte, it was her second goal of the year and first game-winner while Hart earned her first assist of the year.

The Patriots improved to 5-7-1 on the season and 2-3 in CAA action. Delaware fell to 7-4-2, also with a 2-3 mark in the league. The two teams are tied for seventh in the conference with six matches remaining. The top six teams make the CAA Tournament.

Mason will look for a third straight win on Sunday when the Patriots take on Drexel on Sunday. The Dragons are 4-7-1 with a 1-4 mark in CAA play. They earned their first win by beating Towson, 1-0, also on Friday night.
