Fairfax, Va. - The George Mason women's soccer team saw its three-match win streak snapped on Friday night in heartbreaking fashion as Old Dominion scored with 46 second remaining in the game to beat the Patriots, 2-1 at George Mason Stadium in front of 439 fans.

The Patriots had plenty of scoring opportunities but Old Dominion's Lauren Tupman was sparkling in goal, stopping 12 of Mason's 13 shots on goal. The Monarchs managed just six shots on goal but converted enough to get the win the match. The game winner came when Old Dominion earned a corner kick in the final minute. The ball crossed and there were several touches before Janna Pearson put the ball in for her fourth goal of the year. Katie Watson earned the assist on the game-winner.

The Monarchs got on the board first when Watson scored her CAA-leading 11th goal of the season. She beat a defender and put the ball in the bottom right corner of the net for a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute.

Mason had a fabulous scoring opportunity in the 28th minute. Sarah Fack beat the keeper on a breakaway but an Old Dominion defender was there to clear the ball. On the ensuing corner, Fack had another shot on the goal but Lauren Tupman made an outstanding save.

The Patriots had the first good scoring chance in the second half off a corner kick in the 52nd minute but Old Dominion (13-2-0, 5-2-0) got a team save off a Fack header.

Mason (6-8-1, 3-4-0) got the equalizer in the 68th minute. Leslie Cabe beat her defender on the right side and took an excellent shot that Tupman deflected. Kelly Keelan, charging on the left, got to the ball first and put it in the open net for her first collegiate goal. It was Cabe's fourth assist of the season.

Shavon Knight had several strong chances to score later in the second half, beating the Mason defense to get to a through ball. The first time, her shot was wide. The second time, Mason keeper Kasey Davenport made the save. Davenport finished with four saves.

Mason had a couple of goals nullified due to offsides calls. In the first half, Fack put one in off a pass from L.J. Williams and in the second half, Rachel Wiggins took a pass from Fack and beat Tupman only to have an assistant referee's flag go up.

Mason will return to action on Sunday when the Patriots host William & Mary at 1 p.m. The Tribe are 12-1-2 on the year, 6-0-1 in the CAA, good for first in the conference.
