Fairfax, Va.--Senior forward Karim Manneh (Banjul, Gambia) scored his fourth goal of the season to lift Mason's men's soccer team (4-3) to a 1-0 overtime victory against Penn State (2-5-1) Saturday night at George Mason Stadium.
Manneh took a pass from freshman Lucas Pardew (F; Parkton, Md.) and proceeded to score off of a header into the lower right corner of the net (98:24) to propel Mason to its second overtime win of the season. The Patriots now own a 3-0-1 all-time record against the Nittany Lions.
Goalkeeper Eric Barnes (Fr.; Aiken, S.C.) was in the net every minute for the Patriots for just his third collegiate game and now owns a goals against average of 0.97. Barnes tallied two saves on the night, while sophomore Conrad Taylor collected five saves for PSU.
The Patriots' next game is their Colonial Athletic Association opener on Sept. 30 against Virginia Commonwealth at 7 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.
