Andrulis Adds Kelderman and Tenney to Staff

Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's men's soccer head coach Greg Andrulis has announced the hiring of Kristopher Kelderman as an assistant coach. In addition, David Tenney will serve as a volunteer assistant for the Patriots.

"I am extremely excited for our players and University to be able to attract such high quality people to our program," said Andrulis. "Kris Kelderman and Dave Tenney have extensive playing experience having competed at the college, professional and international levels."

Kelderman comes to Mason with 19 years of coaching and 18 years of professional playing experience. Most recently Kelderman played with the New England Revolution (1999) of the MLS and, before playing with the Miami Fusion during the 1998 season, Kelderman was a member of the D.C. United when the United won two-straight MLS Champion titles (1996-97). Other professional teams in which Kelderman played for are: Milwaukee Rampage (1993-95, 2000), Milwaukee Wave (2000-01), St. Louis Ambush (1996), Tampa Bay Terror (1995-96), Buffalo Blizzard (1993-95) and the Baltimore Blast (1991-92).

Kelderman is currently serving as the Technical Director for both the Vienna Youth Soccer Club and Curt Onalfo Soccer, Inc. Some of his main responsibilities at VYSC is to conduct age-appropriate coaching clinics, as well as individual team-specific training sessions. At Curt Onfalfo Soccer, Inc., Kelderman is responsible for evaluating players, coaches and teams, as well as designing and implementing developmentally appropriate training programs. In addition, Kelderman has been the head youth soccer coach and trainer with the D.C. United Super Y-League U-15 Youth Team since 2004.

During the 2000 season, Kelderman was the head coach of the Wisconsin Rebels of the Premier Developmental League. While with the Rebels he developed and implemented training sessions for daily workouts, as well as recruitment of top collegiate athletes. Kelderman was also the head coach at both Dover High School in Dover, Mass. (1999), as well Neenah High School in Wisconsin (1995) and also served as a camp director at the Kris Kelderman Pro Soccer Camps from 1994-95.

Kelderman was a member of the University of Virginia's soccer team from 1987-91 and was a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection during his four years. The Cavaliers were crowned National Champions in 1989 and Kelderman closed out his career in the top-10 in both career points and assists in UVA's record books. Kelderman graduated from UVA in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in sociology.

Tenney is currently the Technical Director of Coaching and Player Development for the Manassas Area Soccer Association and has been in this role since July 2000. Tenney is also a staff coach for the Washington Freedom Player Development Academy Team and has been since January 2003. In addition, Tenney is a Maryland Boys Olympic Development Coach, which he began in August 2000.

Most recently, Tenney played for the Baltimore Blast of the NPSL from Oct. 1998-May 2000 where he saw action in 21 games. During the 1998 season, Tenney started 23 of 25 games for the Baton Rouge Bombers (EISL) and was selected to the league's All-Star Second Team. Other professional experience for Tenney: Washington Warthogs (May 1994-Jan. 1998) and the German 4th Division (May 1992-94).

Tenney played for Virginia Tech from 1988-92 and was named Metro Conference Defensive MVP (1988). In addition, Tenney served as team captain his last two seasons with the Hokies. Tenney is currently pursuing his B.I.S. in Coaching Science from Mason.

"Both Kris and Dave are committed coaches with incredible track records at the club and Olympic Development levels," expressed Andrulis. "We are pleased to have two outstanding assistant coaches with great local ties who are committed to the development of the soccer program at George Mason University."
