Providence, R.I.- George Mason University's men's soccer team (2-2) dropped a 3-1 decision to Brown University (2-2) in the final game of the adidas/Brown Soccer Classic in Providence, R.I. Sunday afternoon.
At the 68:58 mark, Brown's Darren Howerton was awarded a free kick when he was fouled just outside the top of the box. Howerton's serve to the middle of the goal connected with Ben Brackett, who blasted a header into the upper right hand corner of the net from point blank range.
Just under eight minutes later, the Bears scored again, as Stephen Sawyer threaded a lead pass to junior Ibrahim Diane to the near corner. Ian Premo then one-timed Diane's cross past Mason's freshman goalkeeper Jeremy Jessup from the far corner of the box to give Brown a 2-0 lead.
Mason kept itself in the game with a goal at the 82:53 mark when senior forward Karim Manneh (Banjul, Gambia) headed one past David Semenza off a free kick taken by senior forwardTeba McKnight (Couva, Trinidad) to score his fourth goal of the season.
The Bears' Granger tipped in a cross from Davies off a breakaway 48 seconds later to give Brown the 3-1 win.
Jessup tallied six saves and allowed three goals, while Semenza posted two saves in net for Brown.
