Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's women's basketball team (8-11, 4-6 CAA) fell to Delaware (17-2, 10-0) by a score of 68-40 in a Colonial Athletic Association match-up at the Patriot Center Thursday evening.

This is Delaware's 15th-straight win and the Blue Hens currently stand alone with the longest win steak in Division I play.

Senior center Julie Flanders (St. Thomas, V.I.) led the Patriots as she matched a game-high seven boards and also tied two other teammates in points with eight. Sophomore forward Kristin Higy (Akron, Ohio) and freshman forward Moni Akintunde (Laurel, Md.) each netted eight points as Higy shot 3-5 from the field and Akintunde shot 67 percent on the night.

Delaware senior forward Tiffany Young, who is a graduate of Fairfax High School, led all scorers with 15 points, which included a 5-5 showing from the charity stripe. Guard Liz Hayes (So.) came off the bench to score 12 points and CAA Preseason Player of the Year Tiara Malcom matched Hayes' effort with 12 for the Blue Hens. Sophomore guard Tyresa Smith was also perfect from the line (7-7) and added 11 points, as well as a team-best five assists.

The Patriots shot 33 percent on the evening (17-52), while Delaware made 22 of its 52 attempts (42 percent). The Blue Hens outrebounded the Patriots, 37-29, and points in the paint were even at 22 a piece.

Mason will return to action when the Patriots compete against James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va. at 2 p.m.
