ATLANTA (AP) - Lamar Butler scored 21 points, 15 on 3-point baskets, and Will Thomas added 15 points and nine rebounds to lead George Mason in an 81-51 rout of Georgia State on Friday night.
It was the Colonial Athletic Association opener for the Patriots (3-2), who took control with a 10-0 run that broke a 12-12 tie 10 minutes into the game. George Mason shot 63 percent while building a 40-27 lead in the first half.
Deven Dickerson was the only Georgia State (2-2, 1-1) player to score in double figures, finishing with 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Patriots virtually put the game on ice when they went on a 13-0 spurt to start the second half, hitting five consecutive layups off transition and then a 3-point basket by Butler for a 53-27 lead with 16:18 remaining.
The Panthers could not find their shooting touch all night, hitting only 28.6 percent for the game.
