Patriots End Season With a 1-0 Double Overtime Loss at Towson

Towson, Md.--George Mason University's men's soccer team closed out its 2005 campaign with a 1-0 double overtime loss to Towson Friday afternoon in a Colonial Athletic Association match-up at Towson Center Field. The Patriots finish with a 7-7-4 overall record (3-4-4 CAA), while the Tigers improve to 10-5-3 (4-4-3).

Towson junior forward Sebastian Haensel scored the lone goal of the game at the 109:48 mark off of a header pass from senior Mike Dougherty who received it off of a corner kick from senior Mike Dougherty.

Freshman goalkeeper Eric Barnes (Aiken, S.C.) tallied nine saves for the Patriots for the entire game, while senior goalkeeper Zak Thompson had four saves on the day.

The Tigers had an 18-15 advantage over the Patriots in shots and Mason posted just two corner kicks to Towson's 10.

With the loss, the Patriots will not advance to the CAA Championship.
