Box Score

Fairfax, Va.--Junior Josh Fleming (MF; Fairfax, Va.) and freshman forward Lucas Pardew (Parkton, Md.) each garnered three points Sunday afternoon to help propel Mason to a 3-2 win over William & Mary in a Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer match-up at George Mason Stadium. With this win, the Patriots improve to 7-6-4 on the year (3-3-4 CAA), while the Tribe falls to 4-8-5 (2-3-5).

Seniors Kephern Fuller (Marietta, Ga.), Karim Manneh (Banjul, Gambia), Teba McKnight (Couva, Trinidad), Anthony Noreiga (San Fernando, Trinidad) and Damiam O'Rourke (Shannon, Ireland) were all honored prior to kick-off for all of their hard work and dedication to Mason's men's soccer program.

McKnight opened up the scoring on the afternoon as he took a free kick from about 30 yards out at the 31:04 mark and watched it sail into the upper right corner of the net for his fourth goal of the season.

The next two goals for the Patriots were the same duo, as Fleming took a cross pass from Pardew and netted it in the upper left hand corner to put Mason ahead, 2-0, in the 40th minute. Then it was Pardew's turn as Fleming sent a pass from the leftside as Pardew came from the backside and then fired off the game-winning goal from about six yards out at the 49:41 mark.

Freshman midfielder Brock Jones took a header off of a corner kick from freshman midfielder Doug McBride for the Tribe's first goal (53:28) and sophomore midfielder Martin Brady netted W&M's final goal with just under three minutes remaining in the game from a free kick at the top of the box.

Freshman goalkeeper Eric Barnes (Aiken, S.C.) registered nine saves while in net for the Patriots all 90 minutes, while sophomore Brennan Wergley tallied six saves and allowed three goals for the Tribe.

Mason is currently sixth in the conference and can secure a spot in the CAA Championship with a win against Towson on Friday. If Northeastern loses its final game and the Patriots tie the Tigers, then Mason would be one of the six teams at the championship if W&M falls to Old Dominion. But if William & Mary or Northeastern wins this weekend and the Patriots lose, then Mason would finish outside of the top-6 in the CAA.

The Patriots wrap-up their regular season on Friday, Nov. 4 at Towson with a start time of 2 p.m.
