The George Mason women's volleyball team played it second CAA road match in as many days on Saturday night and the Virginia Commonwealth Rams were less than welcoming as Mason was handed a 30-23, 30-25, 30-19 loss on a night Mason hit just .094.
Mason (4-10, 1-6) got 10 kills from Jaqueline Kohler and 15 digs and three service aces from Zulma Rojas but no one else contributed more than five kills while hitting better than .000. Chantal Bodkin-Clarke had four kills and five total blocks while Julie Flanders had five kills and Sarah Hipps added 27 assists.
Ana Luiza De Borja led VCU (9-8, 3-4) with 11 kills and Elisa Kuehnel had nine kills and hit .500 with four block assists. Melissa Peterson added five block assists while Cat Juson had 25 assists.
The Rams hit .271 in the match including .316 in the final game. The Rams also had an 11-5 advantage in total team blocks.
Mason returns home for five straight CAA matches. The Patriots take on Towson and Delaware next weekend, Northeastern and Hofstra the weekend after that and James Madison on Friday, Oct. 21.
