The George Mason women's volleyball team will start the 2004 season a little later than expected. As a result of the impending arrival of Hurricane Frances in Florida, the Patriots have cancelled their trip to the University of South Florida, where they were scheduled to play one game on Friday and two games on Saturday. The Patriots will instead open their season on Sept. 10 when they play Maryland-Eastern Shore at the Georgetown Tournament. That game is scheduled for 5 p.m. The Patriots will still get a chance to visit Florida this season, as they are scheduled to play at Florida State on September 17 and 18.
