WASHINGTON -- Senior forward Sarah Wilkinson (Lincoln University, Pa.) scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist in leading George Mason to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over area rival George Washington Wednesday afternoon in women's soccer at the Mt. Vernon Athletic Complex.

The Patriots (4-4-1) even their overall mark and win consecutive contests for the time this season, while the Colonials (2-3-2) drop two straight for the first time this year. Sophomore forward Sarah Sample led the Colonials with two first-half goals.

GW got on the board first as Sample's first goal came off a corner kick from junior midfielder Ina Kain at just under 19-minutes into the game, giving the Colonials an early 1-0 lead. Mason answered back less than 90-seconds later when Wilkinson dribbled in from 15-yards out and scored to tie the contest 1-1.

Sample would get the lead back for the Colonials, scoring unassisted at 28:22 to set the score at 2-1. But, with under a minute remaining in the first-half, Patriots' senior forward Dianna Russini (Old Tappan, N.J.) converted a pass from Wilkinson for a score which put the game tied 2-2 at halftime.

Mason's game winning goal came in the 64th minute when Wilkinson, who received a pass from sophomore defender Kristine Gray (Stafford, Va.), weaved through a number of Colonial defenders to score her second goal of the match and team-high fifth of the season, giving the Patriots the 3-2 victory.

Patriots starting senior goalkeeper Sarah Coughlin (Hawthorne, N.Y.), who allowed one goal and made one save, left the game due to an injury midway through the first-half. Reserve sophomore goalie Olivia Brown (Des Moines, Iowa) shook off the Colonials second goal, and held GW scoreless the rest of the way, recording six saves in the second-half and finishing with a career-high seven stops on the afternoon.

George Mason is in the middle of a six-game road swing as it travels to Liberty Saturday for a 7 p.m. clash.
