Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's men's soccer team (2-2-0) outshot Robert Morris (0-4-1), 26-3, and went on to claim a 3-0 victory over the Colonials in the closing game of the George Mason/Comfort Inn Classic Sunday afternoon. Santa Clara (4-0-0), ranked fifth in the nation, edged Loyola (2-2-0) by a score of 2-1 in the first game on Sunday to be crowned champions of the 24th annual Classic, while Loyola ended in second, Mason in third and Robert Morris in fourth.

Senior midfielder David Quinn (Kilkenny, Ireland) opened up the scoring for the Patriots at the 71:06 mark as he shot the game-winning goal from outside the 18-yard line off of a pass from defender Anthony Noreiga (Jr.; San Fernando, Trinidad) and watched it sail by the Colonials outstretched sophomore goalkeeper, Tomer Chencinski. Junior Teba McKnight (F; Couva, Trinidad) netted the next goal for Mason at 80:09 as senior midfielder Damien Quinn (San Diego, Calif.) dished out his third assist of the year. McKnight amassed another point on the afternoon as he passed the ball to senior Matt Mendy (MF; Banjul, Gambia) at 84:00 for the Patriots third goal against the Colonials.

In addition to the total shots, Mason also had the advantage in corner kicks as the Patriots had nine to the Colonials one, while Robert Morris collected seven saves and the Patriots totaled two.

Senior goalkeeper John O'Hara (Foxford, Ireland) earned his second win of the 2004 campaign and his 23rd career shut-out as he saw action in all 90 minutes against RMU. Chencinski played the entire game for the Colonials and allowed three goals, while earning seven saves on the afternoon.

David Quinn and Anthony Noreiga were both named to the 2004 George Mason/Comfort Inn Classic All-Tournament team and Noreiga was also chosen as the Defensive MVP for the weekend's tournament.
