Fairfax, Va. - Three veteran men's basketball players from George Mason have made decisions to leave the program, Head Coach Jim Larranaga announced. Mason will be without the services of Terry Reynolds, Kevin Mickens and Trent Wurtz.

"Terry, Kevin and Trent were valuable contributors to our team's success last season," said Larranaga. "We hate to lose them. However, each of them now has personal goals that they want to pursue and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors."

The 5-foot-9 point guard Reynolds has cited leaving for personal reasons. He played one season with the Patriots after transferring from the University of Toledo and had one year of eligibility remaining. Reynolds, who is a native of Nashville, Tenn., averaged 8.4 points and 5.1 assists per game last season, while starting 23 of 31 games.

Mickens, a 6-9 forward, is pursuing a professional basketball career overseas after playing his junior season for Mason. The Baltimore, Md., native saw action in all 33 games with 11 starts during the 2003-04 campaign, averaging 4.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest. He played two seasons at Allegany College of Maryland before transferring to George Mason.

Wurtz, a 6-foot-8 forward, has elected to transfer to a school closer to his hometown of Sheboygan, Wis. He has two seasons of collegiate eligibility remaining. In two years at Mason, he played in 59 games, starting 14, and averaged 2.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per outing.

George Mason is coming off its best record in school history with a 23-10 mark and two post-season victories in the NIT. Mason lost the CAA championship game 55-54 to VCU, which received the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The Green and Gold have seven returning veterans and four newcomers have signed National Letters of Intent to play next season.
