Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's men's soccer team closed out the 2004 spring season with a 4-1-1 record after defeating Georgetown in Fairfax by a score of 4-1 on April 25.
The Patriots opened up the spring season with a 1-0 victory at home against the Mason Alumni team (Mar. 21) and went on to earn a 3-1 victory against Virginia State ODP on Mar. 27. Next, the Patriots tied the Richmond Kickers, an A-League team, by a score of 2-2 at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Va. on Apr. 4 and fell to UMBC in Baltimore (Apr. 16), 2-1. For the final road game of the spring season, the Patriots shut-out the Universitiy of Richmond, 1-0, on Apr. 18 on the Spiders' home turf.
Mason closed out the 2003 regular season with an overall record of 11-6-6 (4-2-3 CAA) and advanced to the championship game of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament for the third time in school history.
The Patriots will kick-off the 2004 campaign on Sept. 3 as they face Longwood at 7 p.m. in Fairfax, Va.
