The George Mason baseball team might be mired in a slump right now, but one player who surely hasn't been effected is junior outfield Adam Innerst (York, Pa./York Suburban). Innerst had a phenomenal week for the Patriots as he batted .591 (13-for-22) with three homers and 13 RBI in the Patriots' five games. That production was enough to land him the CAA Player of the Week award.
Innerst is the fifth Patriot baseball player to be honored by the CAA this season. Jeff Palumbo was Co-Player of the Week, Josh Campbell was Rookie of the Week, Jake Glanzmann was Pitcher of the Week and Stacen Gant was Co-Pitcher of the Week.
Innerst had at least two hits in four of the five contests, including a 5-for-6 effort with two homers and seven RBI in the Patriots' 22-4 triumph over Akron on Saturday. He was also 3-for-5 with three RBI in a 6-5 loss to the Zips on Sunday. Innerst is batting .398 for the season with seven homers and 35 RBI.
Over the past 10 games he is batting .500 with 21 hits in 42 at-bats, a .976 slugging percentage and 20 RBI. He has moved up in the order and over the weekend, batted in the cleanup spot for the first time this year.
The Patriots (14-9) are in action five times this week, as they head to Navy on Wednesday, host Brown on Thursday and play a three-game set against Old Dominion on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
