Fairfax, VA--The George Mason University women's basketball team (18-10) will compete in the Women's National Invitation Tournament on March 18 when the Patriots face Seton Hall (14-14) in South Orange, NJ, at 7 p.m. at Walsh Gymnasium. This is Mason's second postseason appearance in school history, the first of which happened in 2001 where the Patriots fell to Georgetown in the first round.
The Patriots closed out the season with an 18-10 overall record (11-7 CAA) and headed into the Colonial Athletic Association Championship as a No. 2 seed. Mason advanced to the championship game in the CAA Tournament for just the third time in school history and Old Dominion edged the Patriots by a score of 85-81 on March 13 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, VA.
Tickets for the match-up between Seton Hall are $10 and will go on sale the afternoon of March 15. For more ticket information please call the Pirate's ticket office at (973) 275-4255.
If the Patriots defeat the Pirates on Thursday, Mason will advance to the next round and play the winner of Kent State/St. Joseph's on March 21 at a site to yet be determined.
