Fairfax, Va.Junior forward Teba McKnight (Couva, Trinidad) scored his third game-winning goal of the season against Delaware in the 102nd minute to lift the Patriots to a 3-2 overtime victory Friday evening in both schools Colonial Athletic Association opener at George Mason Stadium. With this win the Patriots' record improves to 5-3-1 (1-0 CAA), while the Blue Hens fall to 3-5 overall (0-1 CAA).

McKnight opened up the scoring for the Patriots as he netted the first goal of the evening at the 27:35 mark from five yards out to beat UD's senior goalkeeper Kyle Haynes. Junior defender Anthony Noreiga (San Fernando, Trinidad) put Mason ahead 2-0 in the 42nd minute as he scored his third goal of the year off of a corner kick from senior Danny Climo (D; Wirral, England).

Freshman forward Sobhan Tadjalli put the Blue Hens on the board as he scored at 51:46 off of a pass from freshman forward TC Young. Delaware was then awarded a penalty kick and Tadjalli took it for the Blue Hens to tie up the game as his shot passed outstretched senior goalkeeper John O'Hara (Foxford, Ireland).

Haynes could not stop McKnight as he shot from the near corner of the box in the second overtime off of a pass from forward Steve Alabi (Jr.; Rotherham, England) and the ball curled in the net for the Patriots fifth win of the 2004 campaign.

O'Hara saw action the entire game in net for the Patriots and tallied four saves on the evening and gave up two goals. For UD, Haynes amassed three saves and gave up three goals.

Shots were even at 18 a piece, while Delaware had a slight advantage in corner kicks with eight to Mason's five.

The Patriots will return to action when they face Towson on Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.
